Josiah Toleafoa, a 3-year-old toddler from Chula Vista, terribly lost his life when he was struck by a car in the parking area of Play City, an indoor Party venue for children on Showroom Place.

Amidst the heartbreaking incident, one anonymous witness revealed that Josiah’s mother was overwhelmed with grief, sobbing uncontrollably while the Police and paramedics tried valiantly to rescue her child.

Despite their dedicated efforts, Josiah could not be saved and died at Rady Children’s Hospital. The sudden loss of such a young and innocent life has shattered family, friends, and community.

A devastating incident occurred as Josiah Toleafoa was in Chula Vista to play rock climbing and celebrate his third birthday alongside other children.

Tragically, the young boy’s life was cut short as he succumbed to the injuries inflicted by a car in the parking lot of Play City, an establishment specifically designed for children’s parties, situated on Showroom Place.

Specific details regarding the exact circumstances of the tragic accident were not disclosed; however, according to Chula Vista Police spokesperson Sgt. Anthony Molina, the incident occurred at approximately 6:20 pm in a parking lot near Showroom Place and Fenton Street.

Further, Chula Vista Police have reported that the 36-year-old car driver cooperated with authorities and remained at the scene.

According to the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD), their preliminary investigation has found no indication of drugs or alcohol contributing to the accident.

The fundraising page has collected $4,665 towards its goal of $6,000. Per the page, Josiah is sweet, emphasizing his captivating qualities.

A woman claiming to be Josiah’s aunt penned a heartfelt message that resonated with the family’s sentiments.

She highlighted how Josiah’s infectious smile and loving heart had the power to infuse joy into any space.

Additionally, the owner of Play City, upon learning of the distressing incident, confirmed their Company’s contribution of $2,000 to support Josiah’s family during this challenging time.

Furthermore, the owner mentioned that their landlord has generously decided to match the donated amount, demonstrating a compassionate response from the community.

N.B.C. 7 reached out to the boy’s family to gather more insights into Josiah’s life and impact on those around him.

However, the family did not respond despite their attempts, indicating their need for privacy and time to cope with the tragic loss.
